i've made a new friend: they're venomous but seriously there's only a teeny tiny amount of neurotoxin in their bites, so little we didn't even know it was there until recently and YES probably i should lead with other fun facts when introducing my friend the garter snake rather than leading with "they bite" and "that bite WILL contain neurotoxins"
