T-Rex: There's a famous thought experiment in philosophy, proposed by Donald Davidson in 1987. In it, some dude goes into a swamp and gets killed -
T-Rex: - as you do -
T-Rex: - and then, at the EXACT SAME MOMENT, a bunch of swamp plants reconfigure themselves INTO a human being, BELIEVING themselves to be the dead man. They don't even realize they're plants!
Dromiceiomimus: Oh, like Swamp Thing.
T-Rex: YES!!
T-Rex: EXACTLY LIKE SWAMP THING.
T-Rex: And it's used to question what thought and identity are.
Utahraptor: Hey, just like Swamp Thing!
T-Rex: NOW YOU SEE WHY IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. I've read the original paper, and Davidson is TOTALLY RIPPING OFF SWAMP THING, but he never mentions it ONCE. Instead he calls his guy "SWAMPMAN". No mention of comics or DC or Alan Moore! He acts like he invented the idea, when it's just PLAGIARIZED SWAMP THING!! ARGH!
T-Rex: I'm so mad at this guy, but he died in 2003, so I have no place to put my anger!!
Off panel: Ah, but would you be mad at a SWAMP DUPLICATE of him who believes himself to be real?
T-Rex: YES, OBVIOUSLY I WOULD! HIS THOUGHT EXPERIMENT ISN'T EVEN GOOD!!
