T-Rex: Flocks of birds fly in a V shape to reduce drag so that, as a group, they don't expend as much energy as they would otherwise.
T-Rex: So how come PLANES don't do this too?
T-Rex: We could save fuel, AND THE ENVIRONMENT, if we flew planes in V formations across the sky! SOMEONE SHOULD BE ON THIS!
Dromiceiomimus: Someone has been, T-Rex, and they confirmed - it does take less energy to fly aircraft in a "V" shapes, just as it does for birds!
T-Rex: PERFECT!
Utahraptor: But there's problems too!
T-Rex: But I hate those things!!
Utahraptor: The main one is scheduling: you need at least two planes for any benefit, but while birds are INDIVIDUALS, planes are flying CROWDS, and it's not that often you have two crowds off to the same place at the same time. Plus there's the issue of close proximity leading to higher odds of collisions!
T-Rex: Makes sense! But man... JUST ONCE, I'd like one of the simple layperson solutions I think up to be a brilliant insight. But nooooo!
T-Rex: INSTEAD, I have to learn more about the world but still be wrong??
